Tiny Talks are not just a shorter version of TED talks. They’re something entirely different. The format provides Austin’s most creative, interesting and accomplished residents the opportunity to share their unique passions, pursuits and experiences with the community in a down-to-earth manner. Their goal isn’t to teach, but instead, to open up their world and share a piece of it with us.
Tiny Talks are not limited to any particular topics or subject areas. Our goal is to put the full human experience on display by having presentations that span the widest possible spectrum of interests, emotions and experiences.
A presentation about someone’s peculiar hobby may follow a presentation about another’s life’s work. The story of a dramatic, life-changing moment may follow a fun, lighthearted story usually saved for parties. The end result is an event that will open our hearts and minds to both the things we knew and the things we didn’t know we were interested in hearing more about.
With that said, we do try to shy away from presentation topics primarily about technology and business. While Austin is full of people with incredible stories to tell in both areas, we feel there are plenty of existing platforms and events that welcome those discussions.
Tiny Talks is currently holding its events at East Austin’s Pershing Hall. The events are open to the public and anyone can attend by registering for a ticket.
Pershing, located at 2415 E 5th St, is a private members club with a dedicated event space (Pershing Hall) that hosts both member and non-member events.
Doors open at 6:30pm. The presentation portion of the event begins at 8pm and will feature seven to eight presentations of about 5-8 minutes each in length.
