1. Auto-advance. Slides must be set to auto-advance on a timer. You won’t be given a clicker to go forward/backwards while you talk. Instead, you must pre-determine what number of seconds each slide will play for (which we explain how to do so here). We do this to make sure all speakers stick to our time limit, as well as to make sure everyone is more intentional with what they choose to say.

Each slide can be set to any number of seconds you want as long as it’s <60 seconds. So i.e. the first can play for 10 seconds, the next for 20 seconds, the next for 14 seconds, etc. Or maybe you want ALL slides to play for the same 40 seconds each. It’s totally up to you.

2. Avoid Text. It’s crucial that slides maintain their primary purpose – as a visual! So please do not use text on your slides (only in extremely rare cases and with minimal use). We want the focus to be on the words coming out of your mouth, not words on a screen.

3. Media Types. While we do allow for the occasional video (although for most, we recommend sticking to only images), we do not allow for any audio playback. This is for the same reason that we discourage the use of text.
